About Me

Greetings from Williamston, Michigan—a quaint, close-knit community on the outskirts of Lansing, where the small-town spirit mirrors the northern Michigan towns of my childhood. I’m Bryan Brouwer, a family man at heart, living with Jenni, my wife and the love of my life, alongside our faithful dog Josey and cat Rufus. Our two remarkable sons, now adults, have ventured back to northern Michigan, coming full circle.

By day, I navigate the world of warehouse logistics, but by the stroke of my brush, I am an artist, passionate and dedicated. My art is not my primary income, but it is my life’s passion. Through my work, I aim not only to showcase my creations but to forge meaningful connections with you, the viewer and collector.

The Essence of My Art: Watercolor is my medium of choice, a reflection of my love for capturing the human spirit. My portraits strive to unveil the unique essence of their subjects, with eyes that seem to follow you, narrating stories beyond the canvas. Yet, my artistic curiosity knows no bounds—I delight in landscapes, pet portraits, and pencil drawings, embracing creativity in its myriad forms.

I believe in the power of art to tell stories, to evoke emotions, and to transport us to realms beyond our imagination. My style? I call it HeArtistry—art imbued with feeling and emotion, a heartfelt connection between creator and observer.

My Journey: Born in Grand Rapids and raised in Kalkaska, Michigan, my path led me from Northwestern Michigan College to Michigan State University, where life’s twists turned me away from a degree in Speech Pathology. Art education? Formal, I have none. Yet, in my early twenties, drawing became my voice, evolving from dark expressions to the detailed, emotive works I share today.

An interesting turn came with “Napkin Art”—sketches made in the fleeting moments of morning coffees, now a cherished collection. My friend Joe’s suggestion to keep a notebook marked the beginning of a more serious pursuit.

Who I Am: No Michelangelo, certainly, but an artist who uses skill and unique expression to create meaningful watercolor paintings. It’s about connection, collaboration, and yes, sustaining my family through my passion.

Beyond the Canvas: Life, for me, is about the simple joys—strumming my guitar, fishing with my sons, savoring moments with Jenni, and the companionship of our pets. Ordinary to some, but to me, it’s everything.

Your Role in This Journey: Your support extends beyond appreciating art; it’s about building a community, sharing stories, and enriching lives. Through my gallery, blogs, and store, I invite you to engage, to inspire, and to support HeArtistry.

Looking Ahead: My vision is twofold—to expand my ability to share quality art and to foster relationships that enrich our lives. Your support, whether through time, purchases, or commissions, is vital. Together, let’s ensure that the art of storytelling, the joy of connection, and the beauty of art continue to flourish.

Welcome to my world, where every stroke, every color, and every story is a testament to the heart’s boundless capacity for expression. Welcome to WilliamstonArt.
